Howdy, says Asia Rain.  I wanted to talk to you about mysticism.  You’ve mentioned it a few times and I’m a little curious about it.  Sure.  Mysticism seems to be pretty broad, so how did you get introduced to it, why did it appeal to you, and how has it shaped your beliefs? says Asia.  I use the term mysticism broadly as one who has had a direct experience with God  When I was in college, I had an experience with the Divine Godhead.  It had an ineffable experience: I can’t describe it in words, but God revealed himself to me directly: absolute, overwhelming, completely consuming me.  Ever since then I have been trying to understand my experience with God.  I found parallels between my experience and experience of other mystics: when the Apostle Paul describes his experiences (… I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven…), from medieval Christian mystics… I experience God as the Divine Feminine just as much as God the Father – what Jews referred to as Shekinah and the gnostics as Barbelo or Sophia.  The Divine Feminine is an important aspect of how experience god, I say.  I’ve heard the term Shekinah before but never knew it was feminine, says Asia.  I find the feminine aspect interesting because most of the people I’ve known consider it blasphemy to say that god isn’t male… I’m trying to explore other ideologies outside of the fundamental constructive christian worldview.  Seeing what else is out there.  I’m a little lost to be honest but I don’t want to give up the faith… I’m having a hard time not associating god with the small-minded, twisted fundamentalist worldview, and the way they use “love” puts a bad taste in my mouth.
