I would have liked to see a change in tempo or something that was a change in pace to ground it, she says. I thought that was an interesting comment – to explore the medium (font, boldness, size) rather than change the content – to let the medium change to support the content rather than the other way around. I agree, says Asia, though I think you can do a lot with just sentence lengths. I’m not sure about using a bunch of fonts though. Yeah, I’m reluctant to explore that, I say. I told Violet I really like the idea of manipulating the medium but only until I reached the very limit of what I am currently doing. But if I get stuck, I want to try focusing on the medium. Obviously there’s a risk of dramatically reducing readability with messing with fonts… I had an idea when you were talking about sentence lengths. What are your thoughts on spirals? I say. Depends – elaborate and I’ll tell you what I think, says Asia. I’m thinking literal mathematical spirals, I say. You suggested one long sentence, disintegrating it slowly and then reconstructing it and it made me think of a spiral like this [Fermat’s Spiral]. I was thinking of another type of sentence structure of alternating long and short sentence structures slowly changing over time, the longest ones becoming shorter and the shorter ones becoming longer. I like that idea, says Asia.

I was writing some of our conversations in the book today, I say. What conversations? About pacifism and property destruction. I also might write about our prophet talks too. Go for it, says Asia. I’m surprised you still consider me mostly sane and I appreciate that, I say. If I have learned anything over the pass couple of months it’s that our brains are not rational and we shouldn’t expect them to be, says Asia.
